For many years people have been wearing high heels. Unfortunately no specific studies have been carried out to determine possible postural/spinal effects.
Wearing high heels is a common belief by many to have effects on the lower back. Such effects may include, either an increase on the lower back curves. In this study we propose to measure any of these possible changes. These changes may be critical in the evaluation of general posture and of more importance in lower back conditions.
Certain devices will be used in order to measure and quantify possible effects. These are the pelvic inclinometer and pantograph which are both externally used and non-invasive in their application. It is intended that this investigation be conducted with subjects in standing posture, measurements will be taken with various heel heights.
