A literature review, was begun in February, 1991. Due to time limits on the project and the amount of literature available on the topic to be investigated the literature review was unable to be completed, and therefore the analysis and compilation necessary for presentation of the final report was inadequate.

Thus, this literature review will be continued, updated, rewritten and presented for publication on 30th September, 1992.

The review will aim to collect recent research on:

  1. neuroanatomy of somatic-autonomic
  2. effects of manipulation (chiropractic adjustment) on somatic-autonomic reflexes.

Analysis of the above findings will occur and its significance to chiropractic discussed.

    Although this project began promisingly, there were methodological errors which meant that the project was not at a standard to publish.  The research will be repeated with stricter constraints, and hopefully a publication will arise as a result.
