Data on the posture of 6,835 Australian subjects has been collected and reviewed.  Spinal curvature and bilateral weight-bearing are assessed and the incidence and inter-relationship of postural distortion was evaluated.  The data suggests that spinal distortion is far more common than symmetry. In regard to pelvic obliquity, it was found that the presence of a left lower hip was more than twice as common as a lower right hip.  The overall results of this study support the findings of previous researchers as to the high frequency of postural distortion within the population.
