The Gathering is back!

We heard you when you told us that you missed our connection to you, and to one another. So, after the fantastic success of last year’s inaugural event –  ‘The Gathering’ – we’re excited to bring you our now annual ASRF fundraising event!

The theme of 2019’s event is centred around COMMUNICATION.

How to be a better communicator of chiropractic research to your community
– How to better communicate through your marketing strategies
How to become a better communicator in business and practice

At this one-day seminar, you will experience both international and local Speakers that will help you become a more effective and impactful communicator, so you can help more people, and as a result grow a fun and thriving practice. This year, we’re featuring fewer Speakers, so we can deep-dive into content and bring you some FLA hours.

We will also be featuring an exciting Exhibitor Room, so you can connect with some of the amazing businesses that support and service our fantastic profession. And if you want to spend some more time with your tribe, join us for casual drinks at a nearby bar, straight after the event.

This is an event that not only offers you learning and connection with your tribe, but raises important funds that allow the Foundation to continue to facilitate internationally-relevant research, year after year. By coming along, you are helping yourself, your community and your profession – it’s a real win-win for everyone, and we’d love to see you there!

Speaker & Session Information

Is Vertebral Subluxation Relevant to Contemporary Chiropractic Practice? – Evidence for the Core Objective of Clinical Chiropractic Practice.

The presentation will cover current evidence of the clinical assessment of the spine, the incorporation of subjective and objective outcome assessments, and the communication of clinical research congruent with contemporary chiropractic practice. Public perception and opinion will also be discussed as informed from contemporary evidence.

Dr. David Russell is a graduate of the NZCA School of Chiropractic. He has been practicing chiropractic for 19 years, and during that time has also been heavily involved in chiropractic education, politics and research. To date he, a “curious clinician”, has over 30 peer-reviewed papers published in 12 chiropractic, medical and healthcare research journals.

David has presented to chiropractic audiences around the world on professional identity, vertebral subluxation in clinical practice, and chiropractic care for the entire family, and has presented research findings at symposia in Australia, the USA and Europe. He currently serves as a board member of the Scotland College of Chiropractic Charitable Trust, and on the Research Committee for the Australian Spinal Research Foundation.

What Did You Say?

This presentation will explore some common statements used in our profession, what they really mean and what the impact of that communication is.

Dr Bettina Tornatoro spends her life supporting others to live their ideal lives. Whether as a Chiropractor, a coach, a speaker, an author or a mother. Bettina is passionate about supporting all to thrive in their lives. Bettina is the current chair of the Australian Chiropractors Association Women in Chiropractic Committee. She was also recognised by the association as the national Chiropractor of the year for 2017 for her contribution to the profession. Bettina has been practicing Chiropractic for 25 years and graduated from RMIT in Melbourne. She is passionate about Chiropractic and its impact on greater health. She loves communicating health and wellbeing messages and the ripple effect of doing that in an outstanding way. Bettina practices with her husband Jim and has a practice in Melbourne Australia.

In recent years Bettina has spoken in many different capacities. At professional seminars, in her practice running internal workshops and in the practices of others. She has done several facilitation roles on the area of growth and empowerment and now runs full day seminars on personal growth for parents and educators. In 2018 Bettina and Jim launched their consulting and coaching company LUX consulting that is dedicated to supporting others to live their ideal lives. Bettina is a lifelong learner. Of particular interest is how people function and thrive. She is in constant research of how we live, love and lead. As part of this quest for knowledge, in 2017 she completed a year long advanced leadership course with a group of women from many and varied professional realms. This has served to sharpen her knowledge and ignited further a passion to share this knowledge with others.

The Chatter that Matters.

The words we use are imperative – to speak our truth and to then share that truth with our practice members (and the world). Let’s make our chatter matter…they do say the truth will set you free.

Dr Alison Asher started her first office straight out of uni because she already knew it all.

Twenty-five years later she is still learning, mostly from things that make her uncomfortable (but not birds – there’s nothing to learn there).

She’s been a practice owner, a locum, an associate, a coach with Quest and now she’s busy juggling Chicks Who Click, practice and raising teenagers – who make her mind her language, and test her ability to communicate cleanly.
